Chain stays.......Smoke style

I put together the chain stays for the kids frame. First you miter the "bridge", them you clean it all up. Next you flux and braze.......after that you braze the parts together, we use a home made jig (aluminum plate). Sanding the tubes (using a mini-lathe) as a unit makes it easy to get both miters for the BB to match-up.

46'r for da kid.............

I have a project..........build Alex the custom fit of a lifetime. It will have a 24" wheel in the back and a 26" up front. A pure mountain bike..........disk brakes, geared, front shock, 72 ST, 71.5 HT, 16" CS. Here is a mock up using an old 24" wheeled Trek donor bike. CS are first to get things started.

Fixin some funk............

Been working/finishing on this frame with Eric for a while now...........here is a sequence to show how to smooth out a fillet. First you clean it with some alcohol them flux it up and heat......notice how the flux gets chalky...........this means that it is "fixed" to the steel.........when it turns liquid and clear you start adding the brass......etc.
